This is a close up of the pattern bricks.

Fronts Pages of the World

  1. What is your favorite newspaper front page?
I would say the Albuquerque Journal because the front picture got my attention right away with the pink bubbly background.
     2. What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it?

My favorite headline was the "Brothers likely planned other attacks" because it was very interesting and it got my attention right away.

     3. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite?

         Four.

     4. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of  photos, size of story text, etc.

They all have their main subject and then little headlines going through the rest of the open space.

     5. What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.

This newspaper for example, had a huge photo containing to the main title of it. They probably did that to get everyone's attention and buy that specific newspaper.

Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

 LENSES:

I would use a telephoto lens to take photos from a far reach, such as in a football game.

I would use a prime lens to take photos in the gym during an event because the lighting there stinks, so this would clear up the photos a bit.

I would use a wide-angle lens to take photos when the Akin's band performs, that way I can get most of the members in the photo.

 VOCABULARY:

Depth of Field (shallow and wide)- the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera.
Relates: It would help focus on the main idea of the photo by blurring one part of the photo.

Light (angle and intensity)- the natural light of their surroundings and other times manipulating light sources to achieve the desired lighting effect.
Relates: It helps the photo's light be brighter and easier to see the photo better.

Shadows Diffusion- when background is blurred out that way you can see the main point to the photo better.
Relates: it helps you focus on the main idea and not get distracted by the busy background.

Exposure-  is the amount of light allowed to fall on each area unit of a medium during the process of taking a photo.
Relates: That way if there's too much lighting, you can fix that.

Aperture (f-stop)- an opening, hole, or gap in the camera lenses.
Relates: Helps reduce or add more light to the lenses for the photo.

Shutter speed- used to discuss exposure time.
Relates: Helps to take the photo better with choosing the shutter speed depending on the setting of the photo.

ISO- a lens aperture is simply the opening of the iris.
Relates: Helps bring down the brightness to the photo settings for a better photo.

Magazine Cover II

Early Magazine Covers
 "Royal American Magazine"January 1774.
I think the person who made this magazine wanted people to look at this as a daily newspaper since the author left the date on the very front of the magazine. Also, it has a simple picture, which I assume maybe the author wanted to get our attention by what seems to be going on in the picture.

The Poster Cover
 "Silver Screen" 1936.
This magazine is different from the very first one because the front cover is basically just a photo to get people's attention maybe. There's barely any sub titles on it either. I guess the main focus on this magazine is the title of it and the photo of the young lady.

Pictures Married to Type
 "The Apologist" 2011
On this magazine, you find the background very interesting and also the man that seems to be standing there with his arms crossed out trying to prove a point in this case. Also, there's a lot of sub titles this time which informs the reader of what he is going to read about in the magazine to get an idea.

In the Forest of Words
 "Huge" 2012 Spring
I guess on this magazine they went simple again to get the main idea focused on in this case. As soon as you pay your eyes on this magazine, you clearly see a man with a catchy looking coat on, which you can directly see its a fashion magazine.

People, May 16, 2011: "William & Catherine: Love Reigns!"The editors’ description of the cover: It was the event of the year—the long-awaited wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton—and People delivered 72 pages of coverage in a special issue that went to press the next day. Featuring a shot of the newlyweds taken by a pool photographer on the steps of Westminster Abbey, this bold, impactful People cover captured the joy, excitement and romance of the day—making it a collector's item to be saved and savored by royal fans for the ages."

I would say that this photo was meant to be a portrait because there are two people in this photo. it was a poster cover because there's not really much wording on this photo. there is however, a little text on the side since they want to focus on the main photo, with a big idea of how they are dressed and happy.

Magazine Cover Intro

Blog #1

Tip #1: Never have the main subject blurry because it will loose focus right away on the photo.

Tip #2: Don't have an abstract photo because it can easily distract the person from the main subject, which could be bad in that case.

Tip #3: Make the photo interesting, because if it isn't, then no one will want to even pick up the magazine in the first place.

Tip #4: Try your best to make your face not too dark, such as leaning it from the flash or natural light.

Tip #5: Get creative on your photo also, make it unique.

Future Schedule

I think I'm probably going to get into the class of Yearbook 2 because I am very interested in writing stories and taking photos. I enjoy going to Akins Events, so I doubt that would be a  problem for me to go once a six weeks. I'm also very positive that I could turn in my work before the deadline because I am a very hard working student with high grades. I could use a good challege like this for next year. I wanna leave Akins with some photography experience for my college applications and just for fun also. I hope I get accepted into the program.

My Holiday

I got to hang out with my family under the Christmas tree. My aunt came over with my little nieces and we did a small party to celebrate Christmas Eve and how blessed we were to live another year. We had a great time opening presents and talking with one another.

My resolution for 2013 would be to do better in school since I've been slacking a lot since the first semester. I need to really pull up my grades since I'm going off to college real soon. I hope I follow through my resolution, but if I don't, at least I know I tried my best and that's always a nice feeling too.

I am looking forward to this fresh new year. I cant wait to see what new technology pops up and what new t.v. shows are going to come up. I wanna start new and become a smarter person and learn new things. I am very excited to be alive for another year. Living happy and healthy is enough for me.

Five Prompts

1. Best Music
In my opinions, I would have to say that Katy Perry was the best of 2012. She had this one song called "Wide Awake", which was a single and very well written. She has quite a talent in singing. She also won many awards for her talent. She is also very gorgeous of course. She was the top played in many radios over the United States.

2. Best Movie
I would have to say that the best movie of 2012 was Taken 2. The first one is also very good. This movie was very scary and sad. In this movie, he himself gets kidnap, along with his ex wife. And the daughter ends up saving them. It was very good and a thriller. The scenes were really good and great! I recommend this movie to everyone! The suspense just eats you up!

3. Best News Stories
I think the best news story for 2012 was the shooting in Connecticut. It was a horrible tragedy because it happened just a few days before Christmas. That day many kids and teachers died.  It was very sad and depressing that whole week. Many people tried to help the families right after the shootings.

4. Important Person
I would have to say that Obama would be one important person to us. He helped the United States in many ways and also immigrants in other countries coming over here. He helped fund us a lot and supported us to become better in economic. He lead us to good, and for that we thank him.

5. Biggest Sports
The Olympics was one of the biggest spots this year. Many sports were accomplished in Paris I believed. It is a big deal since it only happens once every four years. Our country is well known for our Olympics team, which is a good thing. I wish I was there to see the awesome action.

Year 2012 Review

I really enjoy looking at this photo because its very unique. It has very much details on the snowflakes. Other photos of snowflakes don't really have detail. I also like how you focus on the snowflake very easily since the background isn't very abstract.

This photo is very different from other photos that I've seen in my life. I honestly never knew you could stitch your eye up. The detail of it is incredible and makes the person want to know more about this photo. The eye is the main focus in this photo.

This photo to me is very creepy, yet really awesome at the same time. At first when I saw this photo, I thought they were just two regular barbie dolls, but after reading more about them, I soon realized they were more than just two barbie dolls. They are two breathing humans taking a photo. It looks really amazing the way they did it to make a match.
